FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does bentching mean?
Bentching is the Yiddish word for saying Birkas Hamazon, the blessings after a meal with bread. A bencher is the booklet that holds the text, and a bencher set keeps a matching stack of them on the table.
What comes in a lucite bencher set?
Feldart sets pair benchers or bencher cards with a lucite or Leatherite holder, such as the Elegant Bencher Set 6-Pack ($89) and the Classic Large Font Bencher Set ($105). Some combine a cutlery holder, salt dish and bencher holder in one piece ($116 to $119). Replacement bencher holders are $28.
Are bencher sets a good bar mitzvah gift?
Yes. He will bench after every bread meal for the rest of his life, and a set of his own for the table is a grown-up gift that gets used every Shabbos. Leatherite and Wave sets run $105 to $110.
Can I get custom benchers for a wedding?
Personalized benchers with the couple's names and date are a classic wedding favor. For a custom project, contact Feldart's in-house design team with your quantity and date. A lucite bencher set also makes a lasting gift for the couple's own table.
Do you have large print benchers?
Yes. The Classic Large Font Bencher Set ($105) is designed for easier reading at the table, which makes it a thoughtful gift for parents and grandparents.
