FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does anyone use napkin rings anymore?
Yes, especially for Shabbos and Yom Tov. Themed rings mark the occasion: Shanah Tovah and simanim rings for Rosh Hashanah, Pesach rings for the Seder, and leather rings for every Friday night.
What are the etiquette rules for napkin rings?
When you sit down, slide the napkin out, place it on your lap and set the ring to the upper left of your plate. At the end of the meal, lay the napkin loosely to the left of the plate rather than back in the ring.
How do you put a napkin in a napkin ring?
Fold the napkin into a rectangle, roll it or pleat it accordion style, slide the ring to the middle and fan out the ends. Do this before Shabbos so the table is ready when you come home from shul.
Do you have napkin rings for each Yom Tov?
Yes. Shabbos designs include Woven Leather, Serene Kosel and Linear Leather. Rosh Hashanah has Apple, Honeycomb, Golden Branch, Blush Nectar and Lucent. Pesach has Pesach, Woven Leather Pesach and Ornate Garden. Prices run $14 to $24.
Are napkin rings a good hostess gift?
Yes. They are easy to pack, used every week, and come in lines that match Feldart challah boards, trays and honey dishes, so the host can build a coordinated table.
