What is a Kiddush card?

Why do we say Kiddush?

Kiddush fulfills the mitzvah to remember Shabbos and make it holy with words. It is said over wine or grape juice at the start of the Friday night meal, and a shorter Kiddush is said before the Shabbos day meal.

What do you say for Kiddush?

On Friday night, Vayechulu, the bracha on wine, and the bracha ending mekadesh haShabbos. The daytime Kiddush is shorter. Wording differs slightly by nusach, so choose a card in your family's nusach.

Can a woman say Kiddush?

Yes. Women are obligated in Kiddush and can make it for themselves. Customs differ on making it for others, so ask your rav.

What is the difference between Kiddush and Kaddish?

Kiddush sanctifies Shabbos or Yom Tov over wine at home. Kaddish is a prayer praising Hashem said in shul with a minyan, including by mourners. Both come from the Hebrew root for holy.
